The goddess Europa from Greek myth is featured on the obverse of the 2022 Tokelau Goddess Europa Silver Coin. She’s depicted riding on the back of a bull; the bull is Zeus in disguise. The myth of Europa says that Zeus abducted or seduced her from her home, causing her to climb on his bull form. He then ran to the sea and swam across it, carrying her to the island of Crete. According to mythology, Europa had three sons of Zeus before marrying a king of Crete and becoming a queen. Zeus put the form of the bull in the sky as the constellation Taurus to memorialize the story.
