The Lincoln Memorial is one of the great monuments in the United States and the perfect tribute to one of the country’s finest presidents. Lincoln was born in a log cabin in Kentucky in 1809. Largely self-taught, Lincoln worked his way through law school and later served in Congress from 1847 to 1849. In 1860, Lincoln was elected to the presidency, and during his one term, he guided the country through its first Civil War that ended with the successful abolition of slavery.
