One of the many decentralized, open-source blockchain crypto currencies is Ethereum. The name Ethereum actually applies to the platform within which individual units of crypto currency are generated through mining. Each individual token in the system is known as Ether. Today, Ethereum is the second-largest crypto currency when judged by market capitalization, behind only Bitcoin.
Round Highlights:
The introduction of Ethereum came in 2015, two years after it was proposed by a programmer named Vitalik Buterin. Ethereum is unique among other forms of crypto currency in that its development was financed by crowdfunding, which took place in 2014. The network system went live in July 2015 and offered a total of 72 million pre-mined coins. Ethereum is unique compared to other crypto currencies in that its system can be used to mine Ether, the native tokens of the system, settle financial contracts like Bitcoin, and even create and host apps.
Obverse designs of the Crypto Commemorative Ethereum Silver Round feature the symbol for the crypto currency. The Ethereum symbol for an Ether token is different than other major forms of crypto currency in that it uses a known symbol rather than just a single letter with a line through it. The symbol used in its logo is the element of Air from the Heart Chakra. This symbol is believed to represent the center of love and compassion in the culture of the Indian subcontinent from which it originated.
Reverse visuals on the 1 oz Crypto Commemorative Ethereum Silver Rounds include a common design theme found in many commemorative crypto collections. This design was first used back in 2011 when the first collectible crypto currency design was released. It seeks to recreate the appearance of computer hardware such as that which would be found in the processors running the blockchain network within which many crypto currencies originate. This side of the round includes a date mark along with the identifying hallmarks.
