Suriname may be South America’s smallest sovereign state, but the 2013 Suriname 1 oz silver coin is anything but small in terms of value to a portfolio. Suriname’s official silver bullion coin contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver and can be yours today from IDC Coin.
The obverse of each brilliant uncirculated coin depicts a map of Suriname with 10 stars in a half circle above the image and the words “SERVA ME SERVABO TE” below. Each star represents Suriname’s 10 districts and the inscription is a Latin phrase meaning “Save me and I will save you.”
Suriname’s Coat of Arms is featured on the reverse along with “REPUBLIEK SURINAME,” “10 DOLLAR” and the coin’s weight, fineness and year. Each coin is guaranteed and minted by the European Central Mint in Amsterdam with a face value of $10 Surinamese dollars.
Population is approximately 560,000 in Suriname, where Dutch is the official language. It’s bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Brazil, Guyana and French Guiana and is one of two countries not bordered by a Spanish-speaking country.
